The Huna Lore of FirewalkingAloha, If you are reading this page you have probably already experienced the Huna Firewalk Initiation ceremony or have been told that this is an experience worth pursuing. It is truly a life changing experience if you approach this in an open and a sacred manner. We offer three levels of initiation and training. Huna Firewalk Initiation (Level 1)The Huna Heiau offers Huna Umu Ki Firewalk Initiation all over the US, Canada, and other countries too sometimes. These are usually half day ceremonies and assists a person in properly orienting his or her life using Huna principles.
This initiation focuses on the core principles of Huna:
To decide what you want, keep your intention on it and invite your Aumakua to open the way.
Going into the Firewalk you would focus on something like this: "I invite my Aumakua (Divine Nature or God) to walk with me and to take its part in my life" while at the same time you intend to walk the fire. This initiation along with the other experiences during the ceremony establishes proper orientation for life with the Three selves in lokahi.
Additional Benefits people report are:
Please contact mawanaui@soulunion.org regarding when and where you can attend the next Huna Firewalk Initiation ceremony. There is always one in Southern California on March 21st, every single year.
Advanced Firewalking Skills (Level 2)Prerequisite: Huna Firewalk Initiation This is a one-year training and development program to learn more in-depth Firewalking concepts and techniques for powerful living and soulful experience. The intent of this program is to help anyone develop the skills they need to live a more effective life. The application of this training will enable you to handle almost anything that life throws your way as you pursue your life's goals. These skills are essential to the Firewalk Priest. The training will include 1. Additional "Firewalks" such as board breaks, arrow breaks, rebar bending, needle pierce, spoon bending, glass walking and whatever other crazy challenges I toss in for you to deal with. 2. Also more instruction around the fire. You will learn fire tending skills and many of the consideration about planning and building a fire. You will also learn new ways to approach the Firewalk experience besides those from the Level 1 experience. Balancing Program Starting this July 2007, each person who has joined the program will begin the Balancing Program (Ho`ailona Meditation). This program is designed to balance your mental and emotional selves, develop the ability to concentrate, and follow-through on worthy decisions. This program will last through the duration of the Level 2 and Level 3 training. This will require 20 minutes a day commitment through the duration of the courses. 2 Day Training Level 1 and parts of Level 2 training is tentatively set around Day of Remembrance (October 26th). Additional Level 2 training will occur via conference calls between October and Makahiki 2008 (March 21st). Life Project You will be asked to complete a 1-3 month project during the winter period or 2007/2008. You will choose something important you've always wanted to accomplish and then make it happen. You will begin by setting an intention, going for it, and examining whatever internal characteristics might prevent you from following through on the intention. This will be your training to develop some of the hard focus skills of decisiveness, commitment, follow through, and overcoming obstacles. I'll be supporting you with private and group Huna coaching to help you along. Additionally we will be using other Huna Lores to support us in our efforts. Completion of the project is required for acceptance into the Priestly training. Makahiki 2008 During Makahiki there will be additional instructions to prepare for fire tending and service at the Firewalk, and review of new techniques to apply when firewalking. Duration This phase of the training would be complete by May/June 2008. My intention is that this training would help you tremendously in your life and support you in all the Huna Lores you pursue, even if you don't become a Firewalk Priest.
Firewalk Priest training - Kahuna i Ke Umu Ki (Level 3)Prerequisite: Conformation Course, both Huna Prayer Courses, Advanced Firewalking Skills, Mental Acuity and the Kalo Cards, one-year membership in Huna Heiau, and Malama vows. After you have completed the Advanced Firewalk Skills training and have met the other requirements you can request training to be a Firewalk Priest, or Kahuna i Ke Umu Ki. This is not something to take lightly. It is not a life long commitment, but requires a high level of commitment while in service. By the end of this training you would have the skills necessary to to host a successful Huna Firewalk. Huna Firewalks are always a community event, but being at the center and handling the many logistical and spiritual aspects and people all at the same time requires training and skill. This is ultimately about being tough as nails and also in aloha and wale. This is why I call it "Power and Soul". You will learn and memorize the Hunian Firewalking Chants, will have experience using the Kalo around the fire, and experience attracting people to attend a Huna Firewalk. And finally you will be trained how to conduct an initiation and how to facilitate the experience for the entire group. Service Project Your training will include spending 1-3 months in Service to Ho`oikaika (strengthen) Huna. Together we will identify an opportunity for you to support the Huna Heiau membership or reach-out to non Members. The intention is to demonstrate your ability to communicate, lead, and persist. These skills are critical as Kahuna i Ke Umu Ki, when people's safety is at stake. 2 Day Training We will have a couple days together next summer or fall with additional instructions about building a fire and leading the event. You will have an opportunity to build your own fire and handle all of the logistics. Mahalo Nui,
